What they say: Hyper dimension Neptunia mk2 is a sequel to Hyper dimension Neptunia and contains brand new main characters, as well as returning characters, and the gameplay has been updated so as to remove the random encounter feature. New maps and a brand new world feature as well, and the cut scenes have been upgraded to 3D from the old 2D visual novel style cut scenes.
What I say: So this is the second game in the series, and if you have played the first one, you have a decent ideal of what the second one will be like.
Well in this one, the main character is the little sister of the first game, who goes by Nepgear. Then you have the other 2 main girls from the first one, Compa and If. So this is your team at the beginning. So in this game you are trying to find the other CPU’s (Console Patron Units) sisters. You already have one, with is the main character. SO you got Neptune’s sister at the beginning of the game, so you think, OH! This will be easy. You gotta find 3 instead on 4. Pssh! I can do this in no time.
I was wrong.
It took me FOREVER to find the first sister. And no, I wasn’t pleased. The only good thing is that you can use them to help you fight. SO THAT IS A GOOD THING! Now let us talk about game play. The first 20 to 30 minutes of it is basically setting you up for the game. Things happen, which cause other things to happen, and this is how you fight and so on. Then it lets you go into dungeons and stuff. You then can get missions and start the game, you have tons of side quests and stuff like that, ‘cause you know it is a role playing game, and they ALWAYS have side quests.
Personally, I liked the graphics. Like in the first game, when you would have scene when they would talk to one another, it was a flat picture. -_- I mean really. Well in this game, they gave them some depth, which made them and the game as a whole look better if you ask me. Also, the fighting style was different from the first game. You had this circle, and you could only move in the area of the circle. To be honest, at first it was off-putting, but after I got used to it I enjoyed the new system.
So over all, I really enjoyed Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 and cannot wait for the 3rd game to come out.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 is available as a retail disc release and also as a digital download on PSN.
