What they say: Lance Preston and the crew of Grave Encounters, a ghost-hunting reality television show, are shooting an episode inside the abandoned Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital, where unexplained phenomena has been reported for years. On a quest to expose the truth, the crew voluntarily lock themselves inside the building for the night and begins a paranormal investigation, capturing everything on camera. They quickly find themselves lost in a labyrinth of endless hallways and corridors, terrorized by the ghosts of the former patients. Soon they realize that the building is more than just haunted. It s alive, and it has no intention of ever letting them leave.
What I say: If you have ever watched any of the mountain of ghost hunting reality shows and wondered what those fools would do if they ever ran up on a real ghost, then Grave Encounters is the movie for you.
Lance Preston and his crew of phony ghost hunters are working on their sixth episode of their series, this one taking place in an insane asylum. We see lots of behind the scenes footage of them fronting and shooting footage, but when real ghosts show all hell breaks loose.
It starts off slow like an episode of Ghost Hunters, just sounds and things like that, but as the night goes on more and more weirder and bigger things start to happen. The film certainly comes off as creepy especially as the members of the film crew start to go down. A freaking jump scare even got me! That hasn’t happened to me and years. This is quite an enjoyable horror movie and one that’s fun to watch especially if you are tired of fake ass ghost hunting shows.
Extras include an interview with the Vicious Brothers and producer Shawn Angelski, and the making of Grave Encounters.
